The latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA V, is set to be released on September 17th, albeit not on PC. However, the supposed fall PC release date is starting to make gamers even excited.
NIVIDIA recently released a list of PC games that will be released later on this year, with GTA V being on that same list. Other games on the list include: Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassins Creed IV, and more. The new list sparked excitement among the PC gaming community, showing hints of a confirmed date for a possible PC release.
However, NVIDIA soon corrected this list, releasing a statement over the controversy of the PC release. The list was instead intended to create excitement that PC gamers could purchase the game on PC, but it did not have a confirmed release date. They apologized for the false hope of an early release for the PC version, confirming that although it’d be released on PC, they didn't know when.
“Please note, during our Thursday’s earnings call, our investor relations team provided a list of important games that gamers are looking forward to on PC this fall, and included Grand Theft Auto V on that list. This statement was made with the intent of expressing enthusiasm for the games industry in general, and was not intended to represent specific knowledge possessed by NVIDIA. NVIDIA does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability. We deeply regret the error.”
After this disheartening news, gamers will have to wait hopefully for an announcement for the official release date, but can at least be reassured the game is coming for sure on PC.
